I did find it enjoyable enough, though I'll admit I'm not that familiar with the characters. Yes, comically I did only play the thing for an hour. So yes, there is no need to tie it to a client or Steam as a backend. In this game though, both the arcade and what we would consider to be something of a story mode do not require the internet to play. You need the online features to enjoy that whole experience. ![]() They politely explained that they built the game with an online backend. ![]() The Ninja Turtles game also did the same and I asked the devs about it on their Discord. The game is surprisingly full of single player content and it surprises me greatly that they forced it to require an online backend to begin with. I am not allowed by Steam policy to discuss the method in which I was able to get it to work, but yes it does say "looking for steam client" when you first start it up.
